So after being offered a job with one requirement, get a truck, I was off to sell my Mustang. Perks 50% maintenance coverage, and 50% fuel coverage, plus $60/hr to plow in the winter. I obviously wasnt gonna refuse :-P. Next was to find a truck worth of towing and plowing. After alot of research and telling myself I didnt want a Ford truck, here I sit, as of Friday I will be the new owner of a Ford F150 XLT 4X4. only 110,000mi on the odo, same as my mustang when I picked it up (3.8l V6 5spd modded). I was set on a Dodge or Chevy, but something made me weary of them, only to find out that while Chevy has the "most reliable" powertrain, that you could easily beat it up trying to offroad it. Whats the point of a 4X4 if you cant clear a 6" rock without smacking your diff? Next, after very little research I found my beloved Mopars had shotty transmissions and even shottier brakes...supplied by GM. So off I went, a two hour drive to look at the only relatively rust free newer Ford I could find. I instantly fell in love, especially after starting it up and hearing the engine roar to life. I dont know what it is about Fords, I always get addicted, but Im glad. I was thinking about chancing it on a Dodge Ram only to pass a 2001 Ram parked with his driveshaft broken loose from the rear...good to know some people still work for all around good quality. Im glad to drive a Ford! I hope to get to know you all and hopefully it wont be for advice on fixing something every few days, I trust this wont be the case! Future plans are a built motor, procharger, not sure if I wanna lift it yet, and a dual exhaust, most likely Cherry Bomb extreme mufflers to let the 4.6 really breath and make full use of its power! Check back for pictures friday, Ill post a picture of the broken dodge for kicks too.
